Program Spotlight: Capistrano Valley Christian School

It's no secret that there's a ton of great high school baseball in California, and at Buckler, we always keep an eye on the great talent and traditions being developed out west. In particular, we're big fans of the Eagles of Capistrano Valley Christian School in San Juan Capistrano, a great school that consistently fields one of the top teams both in Orange County and in all of Southern California.

CVCS is a small private school known for its fantastic academics, family-like atmosphere, and commitment to developing well-rounded students prepared for college and beyond -- but the Eagles have done some remarkable things on the baseball field as well, winning a CIF championship in 2014 (they were the first boys' team in school history to do so) and eight straight San Joaquin League titles from 2009 through this past season.

Dominance! The Eagles have won the San Joaquin League every year since 2009.

Perhaps even more impressive is that CVCS head coach Clemente Bonilla has seen more than 20 of his players go on to compete at the college level during his 10-year tenure, and his 2017 squad will feature players already committed to UCLA, BYUUC-Irvine, and St. Mary's. We're better at gloves than predictions, but we like the Eagles' chances this spring.

On behalf of the entire Buckler team: Good luck to Coach Bonilla, his staff, and all the CVCS players and families this spring!
